Roxie was one of those people who could have a million ways to be described and yet none could sum her up completely. She was absolutely unique. I've never met someone who is so easily liked or someone with a warmer heart than our Rox.
Throughout her life she was prone to abuse from her dad after her mum passed away. She went through things to horrible to mention and it was rare to see her without bruises somewhere on her body or face. Yet even with cuts all over her bodies, she'd still smile and find the happy side to things. "Oh well, it will heal!" she'd grin and continue doing what she was doing. She was almost a full time carer for her sisters Vickie and Dani, which meant she missed out on a lot of education. Yet none of this seemed to bring her down because she strongly believed, that everything happened for a reason.
Inside though, Roxie was broken. She hurt badly and had tried to kill herself many times, each one failing. She felt she wasn't loved or wanted. That she was ugly, worthless and that she wasn't good enough. She didn't deserve to live was her opinion. This is all she'd ever been told.
We wished she knew the truth. That she was beautiful, caring, loving, funny and absolutely amazing. That no matter how many mistakes she made or how worthless she felt, she had so many people who loved her. In her short 16 years, she touched so many hearts and changed so many people for the better.
Roxie sadly passed away on the 17th April 2008 in hospital with her sisters and close friends by her bedside.
I wil always remember her because she is unforgettable. I miss her so much. I miss her laugh, her smile, her smell, her hugs, her kisses, her jokes, the way she could brighten and cheer up a room just by smiling, the way everyone she met instantly fell in love with her, the way she refused to believe Santa wasn't real. I think I will miss her for the rest of my life because she was my life. I'd love to bring her back. To let her know how much it hurt us all when she went. To force her to stay. To tell her one more time how much I love her and always will as I hug her. I regret many things, but the main will always be letting her go. And I hope she knows I'm sorry. And how grateful I am to have the chance to have met her and been her best friend. I will never forget our beautiful memories. No matter where I go in life, I know one thing: she will never leave me. A part of her is with me always.
Roxie, it's been an honour. Thankyou for the beautiful memories and the lessons you have taught me that have made me who I am today. I will always, always love you. xxxxxxxxxxxx
